Poole to Burnham-on-sea

I fought my way through a busy Yeovil to emerge on the otherside unscathed I then sped downhill into Illchester which is a small little village next to the river Yeo. From Illchester I headed for Somerton cycling through the beautiful Somerset levels. I climbed out of the Somerset levels and climbed further up a ridge which seemed to go on forever through Ashcott however the views over Somerset were extraordinary, after enjoying a great downhill i reached a roundabout that crossed over the M5. On the roundabout my pump fell of my bike and was run over by a van which could prove fatal if i were to pick up a puncture so far from home. Burnham-on-sea was now only a few miles away.

Poole to Burnham-on-sea

My latest trip has just been to Burnham-on-sea which is around 75 miles from where i live. I started by heading out to wimborne and then taking a back road to blandford, from blandforf i headed for Sherbourne via Sturminster newton and Bishops caundle. After Sherbourne it was a short trip along the duel carriage way to yeovil where i entered Somerset for the first time cycling!!!

Kimmeridge day trip

I've recently just had a day off work so i decided to head down to Kimmeridge bay on Purbeck which isn't to far from where i live. I enjoyed leisurley cycling round purbeck through wareham, corfe castle and finally studland before heading back into poole.

1ST Expedition Seaton to Poole

In Bere Regis i decided to finish my trip by going via Bovington, Corfe castle and crossing the Studland ferry back into Poole. I sustained a rather unlucky rip in my shorts on the trip perhaps you can spot it above!!!

1st Expedition Seaton to Poole

On my way home i travelled through bridport, up axminster hill and down into Dorchester where i devoured a massive italian bmt subway! From Dorchester i went along the A35 to Bere Regis which was quite a busy road.

1st Expedition Seaton to poole

Day two i awoke after being bitten all over by my little insect friends in the bluebell woods and began a steady climb out of Devon on the A35.

1st Expedition Poole to Seaton

I reached Seaton and enjoyed a nice hour on the beach sunbathing before heading slightly inland to find a good place to sleep. The little bluebell wood i slept in above was about twenty metres from a layby on the road and the other side of the wood was a field of cows. During that eveniing and night i found it hard to sleep due to the sounds of cars, various animals saying good night to each other over and over again ,and last but not least a motorcyclist pulling over in the layby to answer a call of nature completely unaware of my presence much to my amusement.
